How and what to watch for Kansas State at TCU

Kansas State’s signal caller is dealing with an injury. That might prove costly

This Saturday the 2-1 Kansas State Wildcats head down I-35 to Fort Worth to take on the 1-1 TCU Horned Frogs.

After a Week 1 loss to Arkansas State, K-State have been rolling on offense. Quarterback Skylar Thompson has been lights out, throwing for 626 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions. Unfortunately, Thompson got hurt last week in a win over Texas Tech and his status for the game is up in the air. In relief of Thompson, freshman Will Howard preformed well, going 8/13 with 197 yards and a TD. The Wildcats defense has been stellar too, notching seven turnovers so far this season, while the offense hasn’t given it away once.

That could prove to be a major factor in the game, because TCU has given the ball away three times through two games. But where Kansas State has quarterback questions this week, TCU does not.

The Horned FrogsMax Duggan has been putting up absurd numbers in 2020. In two games he’s thrown for 472 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. He’s completing over 70% of his passes for an average of nearly 10 yards per completion. However they’ve struggled to run the ball, with no rushers having anything close to 100 yards over two full games. In fact Duggan is the team’s leader on the ground as well, with just 89 yards total.

The Best Bet

Both TCU and Kansas State have scored over 30 points in each game this season. The O/U is set a bit lower probably because of the Wildcats’ QB questions. But even with their backup, K-State still moved the ball well.
