We’re back in Abu Dhabi for UFC Fight Island 5 on October 10th. The bantamweights serving as the main event come in to the fight in opposing directions. Marlon Moraes vs. Cory Sandhagen will be a battle as both look to enter the crowded title picture. This will be a five-round fight as the main event of the evening.
Sandhagen (12-2 MMA) is coming off a loss, and will look to make up ground by taking it to Moraes in this fight. His last outing saw a fast finish as he was done 90 seconds in by a rear-naked choke submission in June. A once promising up-and-comer that once held a seven-fight win streak, he can’t let a second consecutive loss happen if he has any hope of ever competing for a title.
Moraes is a tale of missed opportunities. He defeated #7 Jose Aldo in December of 2019, but has been sidelined since. At 5-2 in the UFC and 23-6-1 overall, this could be a great opportunity to jump back in to the title picture. A true kickboxer, Moraes can use that to his advantage against a likely cautious Sandhagen.
