What to do with Darrell Henderson, Cam Akers, Malcolm Brown in Week 5 fantasy football

Can we trust anyone in this three-man committee versus Washington

NFL: New York Giants at Los Angeles Rams Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Rams’ backfield was confounding enough for fantasy owners without Cam Akers involved. The rookie sat out the past two games after suffering a rib cartilage injury in Week 2. Malcolm Brown and Darrell Henderson Jr. have been carrying the load since then, but with Akers expected to suit up Sunday against the Washington Football Team, trying to predict this backfield looks like a fool’s errand.

Fantasy Football analysis: Rams RBs Darrell Henderson, Cam Akers, Malcolm Brown

Henderson starred in Week 3 while he and Brown basically split the snaps 50-50. The former Memphis standout rushed for 114 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries that week while Brown got just seven carries, gaining 19 yards. However, the tables turned in Week 4 as Brown out-touched Henderson, 14-9, and out-snapped him, 35-22. Back in Week 1, in the only game that Akers played in full, he turned 14 carries into 39 yards while playing one-third of the snaps. The Football Team has allowed multiple rushing touchdowns in each of its past three games, so this isn’t a daunting matchup.

Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation

If you intend to start anyone in this backfield this week, godspeed. Brown is probably the best option because he will most likely get the goal-line looks, but no one in this trio is a confident play with everyone active. Akers is just $4,000 on DraftKings while Brown and Henderson are listed at $5,300.
