Bengals tight end Drew Sample has not been one of Joe Burrow’s favorite targets through the first quarter of the season. In two of the team’s four games Sample has just one target and he’s yet to gain more than 50 yards in a single game.
This week the Bengals take on the Baltimore Ravens, who have been pretty stingy against tight ends.
Fantasy Football analysis: Bengals TE Drew Sample
Sample’s high water mark for fantasy points this season was last week when he got 4.7 points in a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. This week will probably be slow-going for him again as his team is taking on a Ravens defense that doesn’t give up much to tight ends, unless your name is Travis Kelce.
Sample is no Travis Kelce, at least not yet. Through the whole season he has just 100 yards on 12 receptions. Though his snap counts have been getting higher each week, it hasn’t made much of an impact in his stat line. Burrow has shown a lot of potential though four weeks, but starting players that rely on rookie quarterbacks is a dangerous game.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Sample hasn’t had much fantasy production yet through his 1.25 year career. In 2020 he’s totaled just 10 fantasy points and hasn’t seen the end zone yet. Sit Sample if he’s on your roster.
