The Denver Broncos and New England Patriots have a bye week sooner than expected. Their Week 5 matchup has been postponed due to Covid-19, with the Patriots having another positive test in Sunday morning results.

The NFL had moved the game from Sunday to Monday, but with the new positive, the game is being postponed to another week. There are reports the game will be moved to next Sunday, but the NFL is not providing specifics. The league simply announced the game is postponed to a later date.

The Patriots were scheduled for a bye in Week 6, while the Broncos were scheduled for a bye in Week 8. Broncos players have taken to social media to express their displeasure with the NFL’s decision. While the players likely have no interest in playing a team facing a Covid-19 outbreak, one issue right now is that the Broncos just spent the whole week practicing like normal.

In a traditional bye week, the team gets some time away from practice to heal their bodies. Instead, players have had to go through a normal work week. Injuries primarily happen in games, but when players are pushing themselves on the practice field, they can either injure themselves or not give their bodies enough time to heal from other injuries. It’s understandable Broncos players would not be happy with this change.
