Best available quarterbacks on the Week 6 waiver wire

Looking for help at quarterback? We take a look at five players widely available in Yahoo! leagues.

There are a few quarterbacks widely available that either have good matchups heading into Week 6, or had successful Week 5 performances, or could benefit from an injury. With that in mind, here are five quarterbacks with under 50% ownership in traditional fantasy football leagues that managers can consider picking up for Week 6.

Andy Dalton, Cowboys (16 percent)

Next up — ARI, @WSH, @PHI, PIT, BYE

Dak Prescott is out for the year with a season-ending injury. Dalton is inheriting a loaded receiving corps, so his ceiling is higher than most waiver wire quarterback targets. Dallas has more passing yards than any team in the NFL. He isn’t nearly as good as Prescott but he has better weapons than most other waiver wire quarterbacks.

Justin Herbert, Chargers (51 percent)

Next up — NYJ, @MIA, JAX, LV, BYE

Some might’ve been shaky about rostering Herbert because of his lack of experience and Tyrod Taylor behind him, but the rookie is averaging more than 300 passing yards per game and is now the full-time starter. Austin Ekeler went down with a hamstring injury in Week 4, so Herbert could need to throw the ball while Joshua Kelley and Justin Jackson fill in for Ekeler.

Ryan Fitzpatrick, Dolphins (21 percent)

Next up — @DEN, LAC, LAR, @ARI, NYJ

The Dolphins aren’t as bad as you think. There’s a ton of risk associated with playin Fitzpatrick, as he seems to be a perennial boom-or-bust option. He’s thrown for more than 300 yards in a game twice this season, but has also dipped below 200 passing yards twice. His ceiling is high if he’s facing a poor defense thanks to DeVante Parker, Mike Gesicki, and Myles Gaskin.

Kirk Cousins, Vikings (32 percent)

Next up — ATL, BYE, @GB, DET, @CHI

Cousins has yet to crack 300 passing yards, but does have a three-touchdown game under his belt this year. Cousins’ solid floor is more appealing than his ceiling. If Adam Thielen has a strong outing, Cousins will probably have quality fantasy numbers.

Gardner Minshew, Jaguars (51 percent)

Next up — DET, BYE, @LAC, HOU, @GB

Minshew is a top 10 quarterback in passing touchdowns (10) and yards (1,439). While he’s been able to produce despite D.J. Chark Jr. being banged up and has benefitted from having James Robinson to work with out of the backfield. Only three quarterbacks have more passing attempts (196) than Minshew this year.
