How the public is betting Coastal Carolina vs. Louisiana-Lafayette

The betting public thinks Louisiana’s layoff could hurt them.

The Louisiana Ragin Cajuns return to action on Wednesday, October 14th, hosting the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers at Cajun Field. It marks Louisiana’s first game since September 26th as weather and Covid-19 have swung their schedule this way and that.

Louisiana had their most recently scheduled game against Appalachian State postponed due to Covid-19 issues with the Moutaineers. This game against Coastal Carolina was scheduled for Saturday but got moved up to Wednesday due to Hurricane Delta. The 21st ranked Ragin Cajuns have won their first three games, but the schedule isn’t making life any easier for them.

It’s not surprising then that the betting public is backing Coastal Carolina. The Chanticleers are 7.5-point underdogs, but are getting 60 percent of wagers and 78 percent of handle to cover. They’re +225 to win outright, and they’re getting 52 percent of handle — although 59 percent of total bets are on Louisiana. Bettors expect a shootout, with 88 percent of bets and 86 percent of handle on over 58.5.
