On the early preliminary card of UFC Fight Island 6, Jamie Mullarkey will take on Fares Ziam in a lightweight bout live from Fight Island in Abu Dhabi and also available on ESPN+.
Mullarkey will open as the slight favorite, but this should be a close fight. With a 12-3 MMA record he is looking to avenge his only other UFC fight, a loss to Brad Riddell around this time last year. Mullarkey was clearly out-fought, but he did last all three rounds.
With three takedowns in the bout, Mullarkey seems to prefer grappling as Riddell out-struck him by 55. But the 26-year-old does have eight knockouts on his record. Typically fighting at featherweight, this is Mullarkey’s second straight fight at lightweight.
His opponent Ziam, has a similar resume, making this bout extremely difficult to predict. 10-3 at the MMA level, “Smile Killer” was absolutely dominated in his lone UFC appearance, but coincidently, it also went the distance. The French fighter has a mixed bag of finishes with five knockouts and four submissions. He is fighting in his usual weight class, and also has a four-inch height advantage.
Here are the betting odds at DraftKings Sportsbook for Jamie Mullarkey vs. Fares Ziam at UFC Fight Island 6 on October 17th.
