The BYU Cougars check in as the No. 14 team in the country as they head into their biggest test of the season, going on the road against the Houston Cougars on Friday, Oct. 16.

BYU dominated its first three opponents, beating Navy, Troy and Louisiana Tech by an average of 41.3 points. The Cougars went into last week’s game against UTSA favored by roughly five touchdowns but won the game 27-20. Zach Wilson threw for 292 yards with tow touchdowns. Dax Milne finished with 102 receiving yards, and Tyler Allgeier rushed for 116 yards and one touchdown on 19 carries.

After watching their season opener continue to be postponed and canceled, the Houston Cougars finally played their first game of the season on Thursday, Oct. 8, a 49-31 victory over Tulane. Clayton Tune threw for 319 yards and two touchdowns. Marquez Stevenson finished with 118 yards receiving and a touchdown. The Cougars turned the ball over five times in the victory.

BYU won the only two games in this series, most recently a 33-25 victory in Provo, Utah in 2014.

The Best Bet

How scary is this Houston offense? It scored 49 points despite turning the ball over five times. It was the Cougars’ first game, so they’re bound to make some mistakes against a team that had already played three games coming in, so that should be fixed fairly quickly. After a bit of a dud last weekend, BYU will look to show just powerful its offense is after blowing everybody out in its first three games of the season. There will be plenty of points scored in this one, so let’s get after the over.
