The EPL has a big weekend ahead as they return to action from the FIFA international break. Everton look to stay atop the table while Manchester United will look to climb from near the bottom. Here’s how the public is betting ahead of Week 5. Betting splits courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook.
Everton v. Liverpool, Saturday October 17th, 7:30AM ET
Everton +300: 41% of handle, 28% of bets
Tie +310: 8% of handle, 10% of bets
Liverpool -124: 51% of handle, 62% of bets
As this is one of the headlining matches of the weekend, Everton will look to keep their first-place spot alive and well as they host Liverpool in the Merseyside derby. Last year’s EPL champions are clearly favored to win this match despite suffering a 7-2 loss to Aston Villa in their last outing. Everton, 4-0-0 after the first 4 match days, sit atop the table and will hope to remain undefeated as Dominic Calvert-Lewin looks to score in his fifth straight game. It looks like the public is swaying with the odds as 62% of the bets are going in Liverpool’s favor. This one isn’t all said and done right away, though, as Everton has a real shot at winning this one.
Leicester City v. Aston Villa, Sunday October 18th, 2:15PM ET
Leicester +104: 41% of handle, 56% of bets
Tie +260: 5% of handle, 5% of bets
Aston Villa +260: 53% of handle, 39% of bets
Villa, coming off their 7-2 thrashing of Liverpool, heads to Leicester in hopes of continuing their excellent start to the season. Villa is only one of two teams to remain unbeaten in the league as they’ve won all of their first 3 games. Leicester isn’t far behind them, though, as they also won their first 3 games but lost 3-0 to West Ham in Week 4. They’re tied on points in the table, but 2nd-place Villa remains ahead with a slightly better goal differential. The public seems a little indecisive on this one, as Leicester controls the majority of bets but Villa got the majority of the handle. Regardless of the outcome, this will be an exciting one to watch.
