How and what to watch for Louisville vs. No. 4 Notre Dame

The No. 4 Fighting Irish welcomes Malik Cunningham and the rebuilding Cardinals to South Bend on Saturday.

NCAA Football: Louisville at Pittsburgh Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

Getting into the meat of its ACC schedule, the No. 4 Notre Dame Fighting Irish aim to keep things moving along when welcoming the Louisville Cardinals to South Bend Saturday afternoon.

After a three-week layoff that included a postponed game against Wake Forest due to a COVID outbreak, the Fighting Irish finally got back onto the field last Saturday, putting away Florida State in a 42-26 win. Ian Book, Kyren Williams and the ND offense got most of their work done in the first half before the defense shut things down by holding the Seminoles to just six second half points.

Meanwhile in Atlanta, Scott Satterfield’s Louisville squad was seemingly poised for a win over Georgia Tech before a pair of costly second-half fumbles allowed the Jackets to rally for a 46-27 victory. Rising quarterback Malik Cunningham produced in the loss, throwing for 229 yards and pair of touchdowns through the air while also rushing for two scores on the ground.
