Sunday AM update: The Eagles injury report is a mess and should benefit Lamar Jackson. Philly will be without safety Marcus Epps, cornerback Avonte Maddox, and linebacker Duke Riley, all of whom are starters. Darius Slay is questionable but seems expected to play. The Ravens are sizable favorites, but even if the game script sticks in that direction and a more ground-based focus, Jackson has proven he can remain productive. ESPN projects him as the fourth most productive fantasy quarterback in Week 6.
Reigning MVP Lamar Jackson has struggled a bit this season and could struggle again this week against a Philadelphia Eagles defense that is best in the league at keeping running quarterbacks in check.
Fantasy Football analysis: Ravens QB Lamar Jackson
Lamar Jackson has still been a very good player in 2020, but his electrifying plays and top-tier production has dipped a bit this year. He’s currently ranked the 9th best fantasy QB in the league, and that’s even with him having a couple of disappointing games.
Jackson has been held below 50 yards rushing twice this year, including getting just three yards last week against the Bengals. Still, passers complete over 70% of their passes against Philly, and have thrown for 10 touchdowns to just two picks.
Though stats will show the Eagles keep running quarterbacks to virtually no ground yards, the team also hasn’t faced a legitimate dual threat yet this year. Jackson will force the Eagles to account for an additional athlete they’re not used to accounting for. This is also the second-worst pass defense Jackson has seen this season, so it could be a solid chance for him to throw up some crazy numbers.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
At the end of the day, Jackson is still one of the top QBs in the NFL, even with a few down games. This match up against the Eagles should prove a good chance for him to get back to his MVP form from last season.
Start him.
