Sunday AM update: The Lions defense will be without cornerback Desmond Trufant. The Jaguars will know D.J. Chark’s status after pre-game warmups, although he is reportedly trending in the right direction. The Jaguars are a much better team with Chark, so keep an eye out for 11:30 a.m. ET inactive news.
Is Gardner Minshew a placeholder quarterback or the actual answer in Jacksonville? Who knows! What we do know around these parts is that the mustachioed one has become a viable option for fantasy lineups most weeks, and he’s got a game against the Lions on Sunday that has all the makings of a shootout.
Fantasy Football analysis: Jaguars QB Gardner Minshew
For the season, Minshew’s got 1,439 yards, 10 touchdowns, and four interceptions. In fact, he’s throw multiple touchdowns in all but one game so far this year. This week’s game against the Lions has an over/under of 54.5 points, thanks to both of these teams being kind of bad at defense. Detroit is giving up an average of 23 points per game to quarterbacks, and opposing passers are averaging more than two touchdowns a game against the Lions.
The biggest potential hangup for Minshew this week is the uncertainty around whether or not his No. 1 receiver, D.J. Chark, will play. He missed practice again Thursday with an ankle injury. That would be a bigger problem against most other teams, but the Jaguars should still be able to put up points this week.
