Two teams will be looking to get back in the win column when the Miami Hurricanes host the Pittsburgh Panthers on Saturday afternoon. Pitt lost two games in a row, while Miami will regroup after a loss to the Clemson Tigers.
As we head closer and closer to game time, let’s take a look at where the money is going from sports bettors and where the lines have moved throughout the week.
All odds and info is provided by DraftKings Sportsbook.
Point spread
Sportsbooks opened up with Miami as 11-point favorites and as it stands now, DraftKings has the Hurricanes as 13-point favorites. Fifty-six percent of bets are coming in on Pitt, but 42% of the handle is siding with Miami.
Is the public right? The public is right as a whole as far as percentage of bets, but all the money going to the Hurricanes is wrong. Pitt is 3-2, but both its losses came by a single point. This is a good spot to be on the Panthers’ side.
Over/Under
The point total in this game opened at 52.5 at some sportsbooks, but DraftKings currently lists the number at 47.5, so there has been a sizeable movement with the total. Eighty-five percent of bets are on the over, but the under is receiving 52% of the handle.
Is the public right? I can definitely see this one going under the current point total, so I’m siding with the money, not the percentage of bets.
Moneyline
Miami opened with moneyline odds at -420, and Pitt was at +320. According to DraftKings, the Hurricanes can be had at -500 with the Panthers entering in at +360. When looking at the betting splits, Miami is receiving 86% of the bets in addition to 87% of the handle.
Is the public right? Let’s get crazy here. If you’re deciding to go with one risk this weekend, Pitt is going to win this football game. This is a fantastic spot for the Panthers. Miami was riding high until it met up with a Clemson team that showed the Hurricanes they’re nowhere close to its level. After this realization, do we think Miami gets up for a 3-2 Pitt? I’m riding with the Panthers on the moneyline.
