UPDATE: Akins has been downgraded to OUT for this game and will not travel with the team.
Houston Texans tight end Jordan Akins is at least one step closer to playing again. Akins has been dealing with a double whammy of injuries, a concussion and an ankle. He cleared the league’s concussion protocol last week, but wasn’t able to suit up because of his bum ankle. He’s listed as questionable this week, and is expected to be a game-time decision.
Fantasy impact: Jordan Akins injury
Akins has yet to get on the field since the team fired head coach Bill O’Brien, a move that had the offense looking like a much better unit last week. Through the four games he has played, Akins has 168 yards and a touchdown, splitting duties with Darren Fells, who caught two passes for 57 yards and a touchdown last week. When Akins does get back on the field, he has some upside for fantasy purposes, especially the potential for touchdowns. But you’ll have to wait and see if he suits up this week.
