Matt Ryan got off to a blazing start this season, but has come crashing back down to earth over the past few weeks, culminating in a disappointing Week 5 performance. Ryan and the Falcons offense struggled to get anything going through the air in their match-up with the Panthers. Ryan finished the game completing 21 of 37 passes for 226 yards, no touchdowns, and one interception for a meager 6.94 fantasy points. Will things turn around for Matt Ryan in a Week 6 match-up with the Vikings? We break down the fantasy implications below.
Fantasy Football analysis: Falcons QB Matt Ryan
Matt Ryan will head into Week 6 with a new head coach and, hopefully, a better recipe for success as the Falcons look to get back on track. Ryan has been without star wideout Julio Jones for the majority of this season, and it remains to be seen if he will be available Week 6. Jones’ return would certainly boost Ryan’s upside in any match-up.
Fortunately for Ryan, he has plenty of other reliable weapons to target and he will look to utilize them against a beatable Minnesota secondary. The Vikings have allowed an average of 271.4 passing yards per game this year and have allowed 10 receiving touchdowns in only 5 games. The chaos of coaching changes in Atalanta at the moment definitely limits the upside of Matt Ryan, but he is still worthy of a start in most standard leagues, as he looks for a bounce back week.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Start Matt Ryan as a low end QB1.
