What to do with Drew Sample in Week 6 fantasy football

We go over Drew Sample’s fantasy football outlook ahead of the Bengals Week 6 matchup against the Colts.

Cincinnati Bengals tight end Drew Sample is unable to catch a pass in the end zone as Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Sidney Jones defends in the second quarter of a Week 4 NFL football game, Sunday, Oct. 4, 2020, at Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati Kareem Elgazzar via Imagn Content Services, LLC

Drew Sample showed a glimmer of fantasy value back in Week 2 when he garnered nine targets from Joe Burrow. Since then, he received only eight targets over the next three games. Can this be the Week where Sample’s value returns or is he best left on the bench? We break down the fantasy implications below.

Fantasy Football analysis: Bengals TE Drew Sample

Despite a solid Week 2 performance of seven receptions for 45 yards for 11.5 PPR points, Drew Sample has yet to prove that he’s a viable fantasy starter. He has yet to score a touchdown or top 50 yards this season. In his most recent outing, he managed just two receptions for 22 yards. Facing a tough Colts defense in Week 6 makes it unlikely that this is the week where Sample returns to fantasy relevance. Sample is too much of a gamble at this point and is best left on benches in all but the deepest leagues or desperate bye week situations.
