Was it injury? Was it something else?
Jimmy Garoppolo ended up getting benched during last week’s blowout loss to the Miami Dolphins, with the general consensus being that Garoppolo was still hampered by an injured ankle. But some of Jimmy G.’s throws looked to be bad decision-making rather than just poor execution.
By all accounts, Garoppolo is healthy and ready to go for Week 6, as the San Francisco 49ers are set to host the division rival Los Angeles Rams on Sunday Night Football.
Fantasy Football analysis: 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo
After the addition of Jalen Ramsey, the Rams defense has slowly ascended from the depth of the NFL’s rankings against opposing passing attacks. In 2020, the Rams have allowed the 12th fewest fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks, but to be fair, the Rams have faced Washington, the New York football Giants, and Carson Wentz’s Eagles this season.
Back when Ramsey was a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars, Jalen had this to say about his now-current quarterback:
“He has good potential, I think he’ll be a good player...But off my experience in playing him, it was a lot of scheme stuff. It wasn’t like he was just dicing us up.”
Maybe Ramsey was right. Maybe the football world is slowly learning that Jimmy G. isn’t exactly what 49er fans thought he was. Or maybe it was just a minor hiccup due to injury.
But let’s wait until that decision is a little more clear.
