What to do with Jonnu Smith in Week 6 fantasy football

We go over Jonnu Smith’s fantasy football outlook ahead of the Titans Week 6 matchup against the Texans.

Jonnu Smith has been a fantasy darling in the 2020 season, with five touchdowns through only four games of the season (the Tennessee Titans missed a game due to their Covid-19 breakout).

Last week, Smith caught two touchdowns in the Titans 42-16 blowout over the Buffalo Bills, catching five passes for 40 yards in the process. This week, the Titans face the Houston Texans, who have ranked 17th in the NFL against opposing tight ends in 2020. The Titans and Texans are set to kick off at 11 a.m. Sunday in Tennessee.

Fantasy Football analysis: Titans TE Jonnu Smith

Smith had a big day against the Bills, with the second-most targets on the Titans, but not many yards to show for it. That has been a trend for Smith in 2020, as while he has five scores, he’s averaged “only” 55 yards per game. Where Smith has done the majority of his damage has been in the redzone.

Look for that to continue this week as the Titans should be getting back Adam Humphries, who missed last week due to being placed on the Covid-19 restriction list. With the return of Humphries, who is another possession-type receiver like Jonnu Smith, Smith’s value will come with the looks he gets when the Titans are in position to put up a touchdown.

The best tight end in the NFL, Travis Kelce, was able to score against the Texans defense in Week 1, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Smith find the endzone again this week.

Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation

Start Smith as a low-end TE1.
