Cam Newton was able to return from Covid-IR this week and get as much practice in as everyone else, which wasn’t a lot with so many Covid positives going around. But Newton is a known commodity and should be his usual self against the Broncos after missing their last game against the Chiefs.
Newton and the Patriots will finally, possibly meet the Broncos this Sunday in a much delayed matchup. These teams should at least be well rested as they come into this tilt, with the Patriots 13 days removed from their last game and the Broncos playing for the first time in 17 days.
Fantasy Football analysis: Patriots QB Cam Newton
Newton has shown he can put up points through the air and the ground, but the ground is what gives him a high fantasy floor and upside each week. Denver is below average against the pass in DVOA, ranking 18th and 10th-worst in fantasy points allowed to the position.
In their last game Denver allowed a long rushing touchdown to Sam Darnold, who probably should have been tackled at some point, but the Broncos defense looked lost. Newton has four rushing touchdowns and another one is quite likely for the rested Newton this week.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Start as usual.
