Why the Cardinals are likely to cover the spread vs. Cowboys on MNF

The Cardinals are underdogs by a narrow margin against the Cowboys in Week 6 and have a decent shot at squeaking by with a win.

The Arizona Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys will wrap up Week 6 in a Monday Night Football at AT&T Stadium. Kickoff is set for 8:15 p.m. ET and will be aired on ESPN.

Both teams in this matchup have tons of offensive potential but are also below average defensively. There could be a ton of scoring in this game, and the over/under for total points is set at 55 at DraftKings Sportsbook. Dallas is only favored by a point as the host in this primetime matchup but will have to secure the victory without Dak Prescott, who suffered a season-ending leg injury in Week 5. Andy Dalton is a a downgrade from Prescott, but has enough weapons to compete against a Cardinals team led by Kyler Murray and DeAndre Hopkins.

ATS Pick: Cardinals

Arizona opened as the favorite but is now a 1-point underdog, and Murray will get a chance to showcase his playmaking ability against the team that’s given up more points per game than any NFL squad. Murray leads all quarterbacks in rushing yards (296) and helped Hopkins tally a league-leading 528 receiving yards through five weeks. He beat the healthy San Francisco 49ers in the season opener and could torch one of the worst defenses in the NFLin this matchup.

The Cowboys have three receivers on track to eclipse 1,000 receiving yards, but Andy Dalton doesn’t have the same ability to create plays out of nothing that Prescott has at this point in his career. We can expect to see a lot of Ezekiel Elliott against the Cardinals’ middling run defense. Arizona has actually been one of the better teams against the pass this season with Patrick Peterson manning the secondary. Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup, and CeeDee Lamb could struggle to maintain the same level of production with a new quarterback under center. Dallas doesn’t have a single win against a good team in 2020, so I like Arizona’s chances of taking them down without their leader.
