Wednesday update: Gordon has returned to practice, per Mike Klis. He is trending in the right direction and should be good to go this coming Sunday when the Broncos face the Chiefs.

Denver Broncos running back Melvin Gordon missed last week’s game against the Patriots due to strep throat, but coach Vic Fangio says Gordon is expected back this week. Gordon was also charged with speeding and DUI last week, but it appears the team won’t punish the running back, instead waiting for the NFL’s ruling on the matter.

The NFL will likely wait until Gordon has gone through the legal system before implementing a suspension, which should be around three games. That suspension could end up being toward the end of this season or next season, so it is difficult to know at this point.

Running back Phillip Lindsay took over for Gordon on Sunday, and rushed for 101 yards on 23 carries.
