The #22 BYU Cougars jumped into the top 25 college football rankings this weekend, and will host the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs on Friday, Oct. 2.
BYU has started this season on a mission. Operating as an independent, the Cougars quickly put together an eight-game schedule for 2020, and they’re taking advantage of the opportunities. After blowing out Navy 55-3 on Labor Day night, BYU defeated Troy 48-7 on Saturday night. Put those two games together and that’s a combined score of 103-10 through two games. BYU is rolling right now, and quarterback Zach Wilson is putting together some impressive performances. Against Troy, he completed 23 of 28 passes for 392 yards and two touchdowns.
Louisiana Tech is also coming into this game at 2-0 following a last-second 31-30 victory over Southern Miss in its season opener, followed by a 66-38 shootout against Houston Baptist on Saturday. Allowing 38 points and 501 yards to Houston Baptist is a bit concerning, though the Huskies gained more yardage against Texas Tech previously. Louisiana Tech quarterback Luke Anthony threw for five touchdowns and completed 17 of 30 passes for 314 yards with an interception.
This is the first ever meeting between the two teams.
Game Time/TV Channel/Streaming
Friday’s game will start at 9 p.m. ET at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo, Utah. This game will appear on ESPN2.

The Best Bet
While BYU has been among the most dominant teams in college football through two games this college football season, Louisiana Tech should receive a lot more respect than the oddsmakers are suggesting. The Bulldogs are coming off of a double-digit win season, capped off with a bowl win over Miami. It’s unlikely Louisiana Tech will head into Provo and leave with a victory, but 24 points is way too many for a team that should be among the contenders in Conference USA.
Pick: Louisiana Tech +24
