The first fight UFC Fight Island 4 will be a men’s lightweight bout between Luigi Vendramini and Jessin Ayari as they’ll take the octagon this Saturday, October 3, live at Fight Island in Adu Dhabi and available on ESPN+.
This will be a redemption shot for Vendramini as he lost his only other UFC fight to Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos. That was the first loss in his MMA career, dropping his record to 8-1.
Vendramini is 24, and hasn’t fought since that late-2018 defeat. However at the professional level he’s yet to let a fight go the distance, submitting four opponents and knocking out four others.
The Italian stands 5-foot-8 and will come in averaging just .63 significant strikes per minute, likely a representation of his minute experience. However, don’t underestimate “The Italian Stallion” as he’s fighting another UFC opponent potentially eyeing a three-game losing streak.
Having fought just once in 2017 and once in 2018 in a pair of losses, Jessin Ayari is looking to get back in the action. A willing striker, Ayari will be making an appearance on his fourth UFC Fight Night having an average of 3.58 significant strikes per minute. He also has defended almost 60 percent of strikes thrown his way. He’s good at shielding heavy blows and delivering his own.
He is more of a laid-back fighter than Vendramini as Ayari has had all three of his UFC fights go the distance. With a 16-5 MMA record, the 28-year-old, will have the opportunity to re-write the perception about him in the UFC.
