The second fight of UFC Fight Island 4 will be a men’s bantamweight bout between Casey Kenney and Heili Alateng on Saturday, October 3, live from Abu Dhabi and available on ESPN+.
Casey Kenny is coming in with the better record at 14-2-1, with a 3-1 mark in the UFC. In each of his victories, he’s landed more significant strikes than his opponent. With all four fights coming in the last two years, the 29-year-old has been active in getting bouts.
He’s also active in the octagon, landing 3.66 significant strikes per minute. He connects just 42 percent, and Kenny is comfortable both on his feet and on the ground as he averages 1.35 takedowns per 15 minutes.
Heili Alateng enters with a 2-0 UFC record and 14-7-1 MMA resume overall. He’ll want this fight on the ground, averaging 3.5 takedowns per 15 minutes with 35 percent accuracy, while taking 5.1 significant strikes on 57 percent accuracy. In his two decisions by which he was out-struck by 19 and 49, Alateng won.
He’s going to want to this a ground fight, and even if Kenny lands punches, it may not matter if these takedowns are successful. It may be a good gamble to back Alateng getting this fight to the ground, as he’ll enter a sizable underdog.
