The Los Angeles Lakers head into Game 2 of the 2020 NBA Finals against the Miami Heat with a 1-0 lead after a fairly easy time in Game 1 of the series. The Lakers looked slow out the gate but rebounded for an 18-point victory, 116-98 on Wednesday night. The Heat are dealing with two injuries to starters: Goran Dragic and Bam Adebayo. Jimmy Butler was also banged up a bit in Game 1. Let’s go over how to watch and some betting lines, shall we?

Game Time/TV Channel/Streaming

Game 2 on Friday will take place at 9:00 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcasted on ABC and will be streaming on fuboTV and YouTube TV.

Point Spread, Totals, Odds

Spread: Lakers -9.5
Over/Under: 216.5
Moneyline: Lakers (-500), Heat (+390)

Update — So there are some interesting numbers we can break down here. You’d think there would be heavier backing of the Lakers, but because the ML for the Heat is so juiced up, the splits are more even at around 80/20 and 70/30. At this point, we aren’t expecting Bam Adebayo or Goran Dragic to play. So there’s 88% of the handle going toward the Lakers on the spread. Most of the handle and betting percentages is still on the over despite the under hitting in Game 1. It’s a bit odd as well. Miami will be without two starters and this could get ugly fast again, which would results in less of a need for offense from L.A.

Teams Point Spread % Handle % Bets Total Points % Handle % Bets Moneyline % Handle % Bets
Heat +9.5 12% 32% Over 217.0 67% 58% 390 23% 32%
Lakers -9.5 88% 68% Under 217.0 33% 42% -500 77% 68%

The Best Bet: Lakers alternate spread -12.5 (+143)

I think we can juice up the spread a bit for this game, especially before we know the official status of both Adebayo and Dragic. Both are listed as doubtful, so chances are neither will end up playing in Game 2. Even when both were healthy early in Game 1, it looked like the Lakers were going to coast to an easy win anyway. The spread went from -8 to -9.5 and has since stayed still most of Thursday night. I’m not saying you need to get the -12.5 alternate spread, go with what you’re comfortable with really. I think if Bam and Dragic are both out, the Lakers should win this game by at least 15 points or so.
