The first half of the Cowboys-Cardinals Monday Night Football game could also have substituted for an Ezekiel Elliott nightmare. Elliott fumbled twice, giving him five lost fumbles to start the year. Both of those fumbles then turned into Arizona Cardinals touchdowns. So far, four of Elliott’s fumbles have turned into touchdowns.
Elliott was sidelined for Tony Pollard after his second fumble, but not for all that long, as he did come back in on the same series. But, Pollard was used more after Elliott’s second fumble and looked good with that usage.
With Dak Prescott out for the season, the Cowboys looked to give Elliott a big workload, but they ended up splitting those touches up more evenly after the second fumble. Elliott isn’t going away by any means, but Pollard is going to get more work with Dalton in there and if Elliott can’t hold onto the ball, Pollard will see his snap percentage keep rising.
