Report: Christian McCaffery out Week 7, but could play Week 8

Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey is getting closer to returning, but isn’t expected to play this week versus the Saints, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. With their Week 8 game coming on a Thursday, the team feels like bringing him back this week would mean he’d need to play again in five days, putting too much on his ankle.

So it does sound like he could possibly have played this week, but they’ll play it cautious with their stud running back. His backup, Mike Davis, has played well and will get another start, this week against a tough Saints run defense. Hopefully those who had drafted McCaffrey this season have been able to weather the storm.
