Lynn: Austin Ekeler will be back ‘later rather than sooner’

Austin Ekeler isn’t close to returning, so get Justin Jackson if you can.

Los Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler won’t be returning to the field soon, according to head coach Anthony Lynn. Lynn’s exact quote was that Ekeler’s injury is “very serious” and that he will return “later rather than sooner,” per Daniel Popper.

Of course, “sooner than later” isn’t all that specific, but it does help us temper expectations and to feel a little better about Justin Jackson and Joshua Kelley moving forward. After last week’s game against the Saints, it does appear that Jackson has the inside lane in that competition, but the situation could be fluid.
