We’re heading into Week 6 of the 2020 NFL season and there are a couple interesting lines on DraftKings Sportsbook. We have a few thoughts on the early betting splits.
The Buffalo Bills (-560) are the biggest favorites of Week 7. They’ve lost two straight games but are favored by 12.5 points against the winless New York Jets (+410). Buffalo has lost to two very good teams and suffered from two straight poor performances from Josh Allen. The Jets are a mess on both sides of the ball. While Sam Darnold is working toward making a return from his shoulder injury, a staggering 98 percent is betting on the Bills winning on the road. I’d be very surprised to see New York pull off an upset in this matchup.
One of the more interesting games that could end in an upset is the NFC South matchup between the Carolina Panthers (+275) and New York Saints (-335). Teddy Bridgewater will command a dynamic Panthers receiving corps consisting of Robby Anderson and D.J. Moore, with the team hoping Curtis Samuel can recover from his knee injury — facing off against a Saints secondary that gave up four passing touchdowns to Justin Herbert in New Orleans its last time out. Carolina has boasted a top 10 pass defense and could face a gimpy Michael Thomas. If Alvin Kamara doesn’t pick the Panthers apart on the ground, the underdog could come out on top. Bettors have placed 54 percent of points spread wagers on the Panthers, who are 7.5-point underdogs. I think Carolina has a good shot at covering.
The Pittsburgh Steelers (-124) will face off against the Tennessee Titans (+108) in a battle of unbeaten teams. The Steelers are 2-point favorites at DraftKings Sportsbook, but I’d give the edge to the Titans in this matchup. We’ve yet to really see Tennessee at full strength and Ryan Tannehill will have Derrick Henry, A.J. Brown, Corey Davis, Adam Humphries, and Jonnu Smith at his disposal in Week 7. Ben Roethlisberger has a shiny, new toy in Chase Claypool, but can he continue to carry the receiving corps? The public is expecting this to be a close game, but the Titans should have the advantage at home. Both teams can put a ton of points on the board, and that’s why 64 percent of total points wagers for the matchup have been placed on the over of 51.5 points.
