Friday update: James White returned to practice on Friday after not practicing Wednesday or Thursday due to undisclosed reasons, per Mike Reiss. It appears White doesn’t have an injury, so his status for Week 7 is pointing up.
The New England Patriots are back at practice on Thursday, and running back James White was not spotted at practice for a second straight day, per Doug Kyed. White was a DNP on Wednesday, with a listing of “not injury related.”
We will likely get some kind of answer to what’s going on by the end of Friday, but for now we’re left waiting and wondering. White is the best of the team’s running back options in the passing game for PPR leagues, while Damien Harris likely will get enough carries on the ground to be the standard option. Rex Burkhead gets a little bit of both, but as is often the case, the Patriots backfield is tough to sort out for fantasy football purposes.
The Patriots face a tough 49ers run defense in Week 7. If White plays, he’d be the PPR option and it makes sense to sit the rest. If White sits, Burkhead gains some PPR value.
