Game day update: Heading into last Monday, it looked like Chase Edmonds had a chance to eclipse Kenyan Drake sooner than later. Coming out of last Monday, that was not the case. In PPR leagues, Drake scored 28.4 points to Edmonds’ 3.9. Their projections for this week are pretty close to each other, but for now Drake appears to be the guy. It’s tough to justify starting Edmonds outside of deeper flex leagues for the time being.
Kenyan Drake has been underwhelming for most up of 2020 but had a breakout game against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 6. The Arizona Cardinals running back will be pitted against the Seattle Seahawks. He could have a tough time matching his last performance against one of the top run defenses in the NFL.
Fantasy Football analysis: Cardinals RB Kenyan Drake, Chase Edmonds
Drake ranks seventh in touches (111), fourth in rushing yards (478), and 20th in yards from scrimmage (500). Seattle is giving up an average of 370.4 passing yards per game but but has a top seven run defense allowing just up 100.8 yards per game on the ground. Alexander Mattison is the only back with more than 65 rushing yards against the Seahawks this season, as they stuffed the likes of Ezekiel Elliott and Todd Gurley. Chase Edmonds is a change-of-pace back who only gets a handful of touches per game. He’d have to strike gold with a home run play to outscore Drake against Seattle’s defense.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Drake might not have the best track record, but his usage gives him a clear edge over Edmonds. I’d start him Week 7 in hopes that his Week 6 performance can help him gain momentum.
