Game day update: ESPN’s PPR projections have Davante Adams at 21.9 points and Marquez Valdes-Scantling at 10.2 points. With Aaron Jones potentially sidelined due to a calf injury, it’s unclear how much of the short passing game will continue with Jamaal Williams and A.J. Dillon, and how much Aaron Rodgers will look to his receivers.
Aaron Rodgers will be looking to redeem himself this weekend after a rough Week 6 outing against the Buccaneers. He will require help from his receiving corps to do so and Davante Adams and Marquez Valdes-Scantling stand to benefit from a determined quarterback in a favorable match-up. How do they stack up against the rest of the wide receivers in the league and do they belong in your starting lineup this week? We break down the fantasy analysis below.
Fantasy Football analysis: Packers WRs Davante Adams, Marquez Valdes-Scantling
Davante Adams did not have the return to action that he had hoped for in Week 6, but he managed to piece together his limited opportunity, finishing the game with six receptions for 61 yards to score 12.1 PPR fantasy points. He received 10 targets in this game, which bodes well for future match-ups, as he is still the clear favorite of Aaron Rodgers. The Houston Texans have allowed an average of 245 air yards per game with an average of 8.8 yards per pass attempt. They have allowed 13 passing touchdowns, and Adams will look to add number 14 this weekend. The plus match-up, excellent track record, obvious talent, and large target share combine to make Adams a must start in Week 7.
Some may consider Marquez Valdes-Scantling as the number two wideout in Green Bay, though his fantasy production may say otherwise. He has received anywhere from 4-8 targets/game this season, and has managed to turn that volume into an average of only 9.0 PPR points per game. His best performance came in Week 1, when he scored his only touchdown. Given the other options that Rodgers seems to favor more in this offense and Valdes-Scantling’s touchdown dependent value, he may be best left on your bench this week.
