In a middleweight bout on the main card of UFC 254, Jacob Malkoun will take on Phil Hawes this Saturday live from Fight Island in Abu Dhabi and available on pay-per-view through ESPN+.

The highly-anticipated debut of Malkoun, also known as “Mamba”, will come Saturday. With two knockouts and two decision victories in his MMA career, the Austrlian-born fighter will take to the octagon just before his teammate and #1 middleweight Robert Whittaker does.

The 25-year-old hasn’t fought yet this year and will be drawing an opponent in Hawes with two bouts in 2020. “Megatron” is 8-2 in his MMA career, 1-1 in Dana White’s Contender Series, winning his second opportunity over a month ago against Khadzhi Bestaev via first-round knockout.

Hawes is a hard-hitting 5-foot-11 fighter averaging 3.47 significant strikes per minute. He absorbs 4.98, a result of being absolutely manhandled by Julian Marquez in 2017. The 31-year-old has rebounded since and should be ready for this bout, and will enter as the favorite.
