In the final preliminary card fight of UFC 254, Stefan Struve will take on Tai Tuivasa in a heavyweight bout live this Saturday from Fight Island in Abu Dhabi and available on pay-per-view via ESPN+.
The 32-year-old Struve has both age and experience on his opponent, and also enters nine-inch height and reach advantage. Struve is 2-4 in the UFC, with his only notable loss coming to #7 Alexander Volkov back in 2017. He’s primarily a striker but can grapple as well. Averaging 3.13 significant strikes per minute, he averages .58 takedowns per 15 minutes as well.
And f it’s up to his opponent, this bout will be fought in the stand-up. Tuivasa is riding a three-match losing streak after defeating Andrei Arlovski, a fighter Struve lost to, in June of 2018. He’s averaged 4.09 significant strikes per minute, connecting on 48 percent of his attempts. Without a UFC takedown to his name, Tuivasa will be looking to out-strike the much taller Struve.
Both fighters average under a nine-minute fight time. With the moneyline advantage, Struve may be the book favorite, but this may be one of the more favorable upsets on the card. Do not expect this fight to go all three rounds.
