Game day update: ESPN projects David Johnson to lead the way in PPR leagues with 15.4 points, followed by Duke Johnson at 6.2 points.
The Texans will look to get back in the win column in Week 7 as they take on the Green Bay Packers. David Johnson scored a touchdown to play a part in the team’s come from behind performance in Week 6, but the Texans ultimately came up short and lost in overtime. Duke Johnson played a part in that performance as well, albeit a much smaller part. Will either of these running backs play a role large enough to belong in your Week 7 starting lineups? We breakdown the fantasy analysis below.
Fantasy Football analysis: Texans RBs David Johnson, Duke Johnson Jr.
David Johnson is the clear cut lead back in Houston, as he has received double digit carries in every game this season, culminating in a season high 19 carries in Week 6. He only managed 57 yards on those 19 carries, but his fantasy day was salvaged by a touchdown to finish with 13.9 points PPR points. The Packers are currently allowing an average of 4.7 yards per carry, 116 rushing yards per game, and have allowed seven rushing touchdowns on the season. The Texans will likely need to pass often to keep up with the high scoring Packer’s offense, but the run game can not be abandoned altogether and David Johnson’s role is large enough to make him an every week starter at running back. Consider him an RB2 in Week 7.
Duke Johnson continues to play a very minor role in the Texan’s offense, rendering him unusable for fantasy purposes. He received only four carries for nine yards while adding one reception for two yards, to total only 2.1 fantasy football points. He has not managed to score more than 7.5 points in any single game this season and remains on the bench, or even the waiver wire in all leagues.
