A battle between two bantamweight prospects at UFC 254 on October 24th will be beteween Nathaniel Wood and Casey Kenney, Being a catch weight fight at 150 lbs. also adds intrigue, one where we could see more fireworks than usual. Both fighters have also recently lost, and that makes things very interesting.

The Londoner Nathanial Wood is 17-4, still reeling from a loss to John Dodson in February. He did rebound recently against John Castaneda, but as he knows he can’t afford another loss if he wants to compete for a title. Wood is a typically solid striker, but where he makes his money is on the ground. Three submissions in a row give you that kind of credibility. Yet it might be his striking which gives him a win. If Wood can exploit his more seasoned stand-up game, he might have a better chance at coming out a winner.

Kenney is a the true wrestler is no slouch. 15-2-1 overall, his ground game has always been great and his recent addition of some valued and sturdy striking has helped him become more well-rounded. His ground game is likely better which could mean a really close bout between two great fighters.

Here are the betting splits at DraftKings Sportsbook for Nathaniel Wood vs. Casey Kenney at UFC 254 on October 24th.

Betting splits

Nathaniel Wood: +140, (32% of action, 32% of bets)
Casey Kenney: -177, (68% of action, 68% of bets)

DraftKings DFS Values

Nathaniel Wood: $7,500
Casey Kenney: $8,700

In DFS, Wood strikes me a more well-rounded fighter and with him being almost $1000 less than Kenney, his versatile game makes him a much better option. On the ground and standing up, Wood should have enough to keep it close and score often.

Kenney, meanwhile, is a mat-based wrestler that depends on takedowns first and then incorporates a stand-up game. That will not help much in DFS. So despite an added stand-up game, I don’t think it will be enough at that price.
