After an exciting week 4 that finds RB Leipzig on top of the table with Bayern Munich just one point behind them, week 5 offers another enticing slate of matches for Bundesliga teams with plenty at stake.

Best of Week 5

Bayern Munich v. Eintracht Frankfurt

Saturday, October 24, 9:30AM ET
Allianz Arena
Watch on ESPN+

This match is out-and-out the highlight of the weekend as the reigning Bundesliga champions will play host to Eintracht Frankfurt, who just sit one point behind them in the table and will hope to leapfrog them as they visit Allianz Arena this weekend. Bayern is in a fantastic run of form, sitting on a 5-game unbeaten streak across all competitions. Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Muller shared 4 goals between them in Bayern’s 4-1 trouncing of Arminia Bielefeld last week, which was followed up by a midweek UEFA Champions League match-up where they stomped Atletico Madrid by a 4-0 score line. Kingsley Coman tallied a brace in that game and will look to continue his good form this weekend against Frankfurt. It won’t necessarily be a walk in the park for Bayern, though, as Frankfurt are one of only four teams who are still unbeaten this season. With a win over Bayern and some help from other results, Frankfurt could see themselves jump into first place as their only 2 points behind current top-of-the-table RB Leipzig. This one should be an intense clash, while Bayern Munich will field a star-studded lineup, Eintracht Franfkurt will put their best foot forward in an effort to keep their foes at bay.

Worst of Week 5

FSV Mainz 05 v. Borussia Monchengladbach

Saturday, October 24, 9:30AM ET
Opel Arena
Watch on ESPN+

Dead last. Two words that easily describe Mainz so far this season. 4 games played, 4 games lost, and only 2 goals scored throughout that span as well. Mainz will be desperately looking for a win as they host middle-of-the-table Gladbach that brings Bundesliga star Matthias Ginter with it. The Foals are unbeaten since opening weekend when they lost to Borussia Dortmund, and almost grabbed themselves a win in their opening UEFA Champions League game against Inter Milan earlier in the week. They are by far the heavy favorites and should have no trouble taking care of Mainz whose struggles will most likely carry on throughout the upcoming weeks.

Week 5 Sleeper

Werder Bremen v. TSG Hoffenheim

Sunday, October 25, 1:00PM ET
wohninvest Weserstadion
Watch on ESPN+

Young American Josh Sargent and his Werder Bremen squad will play host to TSG Hoffenheim as they both jockey for positioning in the middle of the table. These two sides are right next to each other, with Hoffenheim sitting in 8th place just one point behind Werder. Hoffenheim will be without their leading scorer Andrej Kramaric which will put the home side at an advantage. Milot Rashica made his return last week for Bremen playing a full 24 minutes in the second half as they drew 1-1 with SC Freiburg, and the star will most likely make his first start this weekend since returning from injury. Hoffenheim haven’t lost at the Weserstadion in their last 6 matches, as they’ve notched 2 wins and 4 draws in that stretch against Bremen. While these teams aren’t necessarily the heaviest hitters of the weekend, their match is sure to be an exciting one with some important implications going forward in the season.
