The Carolina Panthers have tried their best to replace Greg Olsen at tight end and have needed a couple players to do that. Ian Thomas is one of the options Teddy Bridgewater has had to utilize at tight end in 2020, but he might not be the best option for his team’s Week 7 matchup against the New Orleans Saints.
Fantasy Football analysis: Panthers TE Ian Thomas
Thomas has caught six of his 11 targets for 39 yards and a score this season. Chris Manhertz has 35 receiving yards on four catches though, so it’s not hard to match Thomas’s level of production. Thomas has only been targeted more than twice in a gam e once this season and only cracked 10 receiving yards in the season opener. While the Saints haven’t been great against tight ends in 2020, rostering any of the Panthers’ tight ends seems like a punt play at best.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Sit Thomas in this one. He doesn’t enough of a priority in Carolina’s offense and could be outdone by Manhertz. Neither is an ideal option.
