What to do with Drew Sample in Week 7 fantasy football

We go over Drew Sample’s fantasy football outlook ahead of the Bengals Week 7 matchup against the Browns.

Cincinnati Bengals tight end Drew Sample is unable to catch a pass in the end zone as Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Sidney Jones defends in the second quarter of a Week 4 NFL football game, Sunday, Oct. 4, 2020, at Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati Kareem Elgazzar via Imagn Content Services, LLC

The Cincinnati Bengals offense has not been the complete void that it could have been, thanks in part to quarterback Joe Burrow and a solid group of skill players. Tight end Drew Sample, however, has not been one of the players to experience the fantasy production levels of his teammates.

Fantasy Football analysis: Bengals TE Drew Sample

Sample took on a larger role in Week 2 when C.J. Uzomah suffered a season-ending injury. Despite having the top of the depth chart to himself, he’s only seen nine targets since the second week of the season. His best game was a three-catch, 57-yard outing in Week 4 against the Jaguars. He was held without a catch last week against the Colts.

The Bengals replay the Browns this week, the team they faced in Week 2. In that game, before he went down with injury, Uzomah scored a touchdown. Sample had 45 yards in that in one too. This game is probably Sample’s best chance of the season to produce meaningful fantasy stats, but he’s a risky option for fantasy lineups this week.
