Game status: Tyler Higbee is INACTIVE for Week 7.
Tyler Higbee has gone from a late-season stud in 2019 to Just Another Guy in 2020. Gerald Everett has the better draft pedigree, but he hasn’t been worthwhile in fantasy since November 2019. However, the Chicago Bears present an opportunity for one of these tight ends to do something of note on Monday night.
Fantasy Football analysis: Rams TEs Tyler Higbee, Gerald Everett
Higbee averaged more than 100 yards and nearly 10 catches per game in his final five appearances last year. This season, Higbee has yet to reach 60 yards, and his three TDs all came in one game last month. Everett provided a sign of life in Week 5 against Washington as he caught all four of his targets for 90 yards. But in his five other games, Everett has a total of eight receptions for 78 yards. Higbee has been the lead dog here for almost a year and he’ll have the best chance of producing good numbers against a Bears defense that has allowed the seventh-most targets and the fifth-most red zone targets to the TE position. For what it’s worth, Higbee has been targeted in the red zone six times this year — five times during his TD trifecta game in Week 2. Everett hasn’t received any such targets.
Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation
Higbee is one of about 15 tight ends who could be conceivably seen as a low-end TE1 at this point. In that range, you’re just looking for a touchdown. The Bears have allowed three TE touchdowns, so he has a chance to return value on his $5,000 price in Week 7. You can ignore Everett until further notice.
