Game status: Aaron Jones is INACTIVE for Week 7.
Game day 8:15 a.m. update: Jones has made the trip with the Packers to Houston, but he is a game-time decision, per Tom Pelissero. As the reporter note, “Green Bay’s medical staff is always cautious. If Jones isn’t 100%, he won’t go.”
Game day 6:30 a.m. update: The plan is for Jones to sit, according to beat writer Ryan Wood. Jamaal Williams and AJ Dillon will be the primary backs with Dexter Williams serving a depth role.
Game-time decisions are frustrating enough for fantasy football, but when it involves a premier player at a premier position with a juicy matchup, it’s enough to have you pulling out your hair. This week Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones is listed as questionable with calf injury. He’s set to face the Houston Texans, the league’s worst run defense.
Fantasy impact: Aaron Jones (calf)
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said Jones was more questionable than doubtful, but that’s not a whole lot to go on. So, despite the fact that he maybe has a better than 50 percent chance of playing, we won’t know for sure until Sunday. The game is at least a 1 PM ET kickoff, so you’ll have time to make last minute lineup adjustments.
He’s still worth using this week. The Texans were gashed by Derrick Henry for more than 200 yards last week, and their defense is giving up a league-worst 177 rushing yards per game. There might not be a better running back play in Week 7, except for the whole game-time decision thing.
