The Tampa Bay Rays have been a team that has lived on the edge throughout the season, and on Sunday evening it burned them. Outfielder Manuel Margot attempted to steal home in the bottom of the fourth inning but was thrown out.
Margot had walked to open the fourth inning. He then stole second and advanced to third on an error by Chris Taylor. After Joey Wendles popped out to short and Willy Adames struck out swinging, Margot got impatient. On a 1-1 count with two outs, Clayton Kershaw was in the middle of his sizable wind-up and Margot made for home. It looked like a moderately close play on camera, but he was clearly out and the ump made the easy call. The picture shows how easily he was out.
The Rays trail the Dodgers 3-2 heading into the fifth inning in a series tied at two games apiece.
