Friday update: Allen Robinson did not practice for a third straight day while in the concussion protocol, but the team has listed him as questionable, per Jeff Dickerson.
Thursday PM update: Allen Robinson missed a second straight practice, per Kevin Fishbain. He’s trending in the wrong direction for Week 8.
The Chicago Bears coach Matt Nagy says that Allen Robinson is in the concussion protocol, per NBC Chicago’s JJ Stankevitz. Robinson suffered the injury on Monday night against the Rams, so his turnaround to being cleared is a day shorter than usual, as the Bears play the Saints this Sunday.
If Robinson isn’t cleared in time, the Bears will be extremely short-handed in the passing game, as Robinson is by far their best receiver. After him are two promising players in Darnell Mooney and Anthony Miller, but Robinson has been the only receiver to make much of an impact this season.
Robinson has only found the end zone twice, but has topped 70 yards in five of seven games and has 44 receptions for 544 yards in that span. With the run game completely in the mud with David Montgomery in the lead, the Bears will need to win with defense if Robinson isn’t there.
