What to do with Ian Thomas in Week 8 fantasy football

We go over Ian Thomas’ fantasy football outlook ahead of the Panthers Week 8 matchup against the Falcons.

The Atlanta Falcons are definitely a defense you want to target if you’re prospecting for a one-week replacement at tight end. However, Ian Thomas probably isn’t worth your time in Week 8.

Fantasy Football analysis: Panthers TE Ian Thomas

Thomas has been targeted just 12 times in seven games thus far. His season-high in receiving yards is 16. He sees plenty of snaps, but his chief role for the Panthers comes as a blocker. No team has permitted more catches, more yards or more touchdowns to tight ends than the Falcons. But it’s hard to take advantage of that matchup when you’re seeing only one target per game — and Thomas has seen exactly one target in each of his past three games.

Fantasy Start/Sit Recommendation

Even with four teams on bye, even with this cake matchup, even at a position that is a guessing game from week to week writ large, you just can’t trust Thomas.
