Week 8’s Monday Night Football matchup will be between the Atlanta Falcons and Carolina Panthers at Bank of America Stadium. Both teams are coming off losses are looking to gain some momentum, but Carolina has the edge and came out on top.
The Panthers (-136) are expected to complete a regular season sweep against the Falcons after beating them in Atlanta in Week 5. Although they’ve lost two straight, they’ve been far more consistent than the one-win Falcons this year. Carolina won by seven points at Mercedes-Benz Stadium a few weeks ago and has a good chance to win by just as much at home.
ATS Pick: Panthers
The Panthers are 2.5-point favorites on DraftKings Sportsbook. The offensive firepower they have with Teddy Bridgewater, Mike Davis, D.J. Moore, Robby Anderson, and Curtis Samuel is more than enough to dismantle Atlanta’s poor defense. Their underrated pass defense is what gives them a real chance to cover the spread though.
Carolina held Matt Ryan to 226 passing yard and no scores at his home field in Week 5 and should get a boost back in Charlotte. While The Falcons will have Julio Jones available this time around, he’s only shown up against bad secondaries this year while Calvin Ridley has performed like a WR1. The Panthers can move the chains fast with their efficient passing attack while Atlanta could be forced to run clock with Todd Gurley in the ground against a run defense that forfeited over 100 rushing yards to him a few weeks ago. The Panthers’ have won by an average more than seven points this season so it would be surprising for them to not lead by at least a touchdown against one of the worst teams in the NFL.
