New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman has a knee injury that required surgery and will cause him to miss “some game action,” per The Athletic’s Jeff Howe. Edelman has been dealing with a knee injury for a while now and it apparently has caught up to him. There is no timetable for his return at this point.
The Patriots offense has been sluggish at best for much of the season and after Edelman’s big game in Seattle, he has done little, likely due to injuries. Off the bench last week we saw Jakobi Meyers play well, giving a much needed spark to a lifeless wide receiver group. He isn’t going to turn the team around, but he likely will get a chance to replace Edelaman while he is out and likely be an upgrade from the gimpy veteran.
With N’Keal Harry also hurting, Cam Newton may be throwing to Damiere Byrd, Jakobi Meyers, Gunner Olszewski, Dalton Keene and James White against the Bills on Sunday.
