Green Bay Packers wide receiver Allen Lazard is back at practice this week, per ESPN’s Rob Demovsky. Lazard had core-muscle surgery a month ago and now is in the 21-day window to return to action. He’s practiced both Wednesday and Thursday, but isn’t listed on the injury report since he hasn’t been activated yet.
Lazard and Aaron Rodgers have had a strong connection on the field and that showed before he was injured in a big game against the Saints where he went for 146 yards and a touchdown with Davante Adams out. The Packers would like him back as soon as they can get him, but they are also fairly cautious with injuries.
Lazard is likely not going to play this week, but there is a chance and a much better chance for Week 9 when they play on Thursday night against the 49ers. With Adams seeing 20 targets in their last game, it’s apparent that nobody has adequately filled that No. 2 spot that Lazard should return to, so scoop him off the free agency wire if he’s there.
