The Pitt Panthers check into the AP Top 25 at No. 24 heading into their home matchup with the NC State Wolfpack on Saturday, Oct. 3.
Pitt has been fortunate enough to see the field three times so far in 2020, all of which resulted in wins. The Panthers are coming off a 23-20 victory over the Louisville Cardinals on Saturday. Pitt’s defense shut down the Louisville, allowing just 223 yards of offense. Offensively, Kenny Pickett completed 23 of 38 passes for 220 yards with two touchdowns and one interception.
NC State is coming off a bit of a head scratcher, a 45-42 loss to the the Virginia Tech Hokies. Virginia Tech played without 23 players including starting quarterback Hendon Hooker and four coaches due to coronavirus and injuries. However the Hokies handled an NC State team that beat Wake Forest in Week 1 fairly easily. Two quarterbacks saw the field for NC State. Devin Leary completed 12 of 16 passes for 165 yards and a touchdown. Bailey Hockman threw two interceptions and completed 7 of 16 passes for 82 yards.
These teams last played in 2017, and NC State won 35-17 in Pittsburgh.

The Best Bet
Pitt’s defense might be one of the best in the country, and its performance against Louisville did nothing to change that thought. It isn’t clear what NC State will be doing with its quarterback situation, but whoever it is will likely struggle against this Panthers’ defense. Pitt doesn’t seem to have too explosive of an offense, so let’s continue to ride unders with this team.
Pick: Under 48.5
