How and what to watch for in Oklahoma vs. Iowa State

Even in a pandemic shortened college football season, the late-September Oklahoma upset still went in effect.

Entering last Saturday’s matchup with Kansas State as four-touchdown favorites, the No. 18 Sooners were stunned by the wily Wildcats once again in a 38-35 setback, the second straight year KSU has upended the class of the Big XII. Notable was OU being shutout in the fourth quarter as the Wildcats stormed back with 17 unanswered points to leave Norman with the ‘W’.

Meanwhile, Iowa State was able to bounce back from their opening loss to Louisiana with a 37-34 victory over TCU, one in which Breece Hall carried the Cyclone offense with 155 yards on 8.6 yards per carry and three touchdowns.

OU quarterback Spencer Rattler and ISU signal-caller Brock Purdy shouldn’t have too many problems moving the football against decent but not elite opposing defenses so as is the case with most Big XII matchups, the over is the safe play here.
